Or attempt to plant things.
So me and Josh plan to grow our own veggies in our new apartment place. The only problem is we have only a balcony to grow things in, so it will be all container growing. Which is fine for what we want to do.
We decided to grow strawberries, peas, carrots, and potatoes. They are all supposed to be okay to grow in containers, the only hardish ones to grow will probably be the carrots, because you have to thin them out.
So we went to Walmart to look and see what sort of seeds they had. We were talking about it on the way, trying to figure out what potato seeds look like. Then I remembered that potato seeds were just the potatoes. So could we just buy potatoes and stick 'em in the pot and they'll grow?
Well, sorta but not really. You have to get potatoes that aren't sprayed, so their eyes grow out and actually make things. You can buy unsprayed potatoes at Walmart, so we're covered on that part. I've decided to get short carrots to help with the fact that they'll be in containers.
So we thought about doing peanuts too, but then we debated on the way home how those even grow, are they on a vine or a bush? Apparently they grow underground. And are they fruit or veggie? Neither, they are called legume.
We walk into Walmart gardening section, only because the online Walmart doesn't have a section for gardening. Why? Faced with a wall of seeds, we're not really sure where to begin. I had to ask where pots were, and they were just outside the gardening center.
We determine how much everything will be. Pots aren't that expensive, and seeds are cheap, plus Link card pays for seeds, so that's kind of awesome.
So I'll be taking pictures of our gardening adventure and hopefully we'll get something interesting out of it.
