Well, Dragon*Con 2008 is comin' up soon, and I'm in. I'm hoping that my work will give me the days off--I've already put in for them off, so keep your fingers crossed! Some of you may remember a post I did way back then when I let you know what I might cosplay as next. Well, I've decided to go for it.
A modern Link. I've been looking everywhere, and I haven't seen anyone else doing it. I'll be changing a few things from this picture to the right:
I'll be wearing black pants and a dark green shirt. And I've got some black gloves as well. I already have the skateboard (I love Goodwill--found one for 8 bucks), and I just need to get some paint. I'll probably make a stencil and spray-paint it, because my straight-line powers are exactly zero. Plus, the spray paint will lay flat on the board. Instead of going by the design on the board, I'll be using the Hylian Shield as my design.
I'll probably just use the Hylian crest and small upside-down triangle below it like it is on the Hylian Shield. Of course, I'll also paint the outside design on the board like in the drawing (the silver part).
I'm not sure if I'm going to sew the Triforce on the shirt or use an iron-on. An iron-on will probably look better. I still need to find some green fabric for the headgear. I've already got the belt and headphones. That's the great thing about a modern Link--don't need to make a tunic or anything. And I think people will recognize me as well. The shield/skateboard should tip them off anyway if the Triforce doesn't.
Not sure what I'm going to do about the sword yet. I might go for a gun since it's modern and everything, but we'll have to see.
I'm pulling from a few different sources of drawings people have done of a modern Link, but the main pic I'm using is the first one. I just like this one too.I'll keep up with regular updates.
EDIT: Eureka!!! I've figured out what to replace the sword with--a guitar! It would be awesome! If the neck of the guitar is swung over the left shoulder, it would be like the "modern sword". Oh yeah. I'm awesome. *happy dance*
