There's one phrase that comes to mind when I think of this weekend's trip to Blue Ridge Mountains, Georgia, for my Student Government.
"I paid for this?!"
Day One--We Arrive
The entire Student Government arrived at our cabins up at Blue Ridge today. We didn't do much else than move into our cabins. They had air conditioning, which we quickly turned on. Humidity was bad. Then, we all met back at the main camp house and had a devotional. Skeeters didn't attack us that bad today.
Day Two--Torture Begins
Ugh. We got up at 6:15 in the morning and met on a field--a very wet field--for physical training (PT). My body is very sore from doing arm circles, push-ups, crunches, jogging in place, running a mile, jumping jacks, and (the best part of all), 'milking the cow'; where you have to make a fist while doing arm circles. We did that every morning until breakfast at 8:00. We did go tubing down a river, in which I was dragged underwater for about 10 feet. That was kind of scary. Every time we hit some rapids, I would hit every rock.
Day Three--Torture Continued
And I thought I was sore yesterday. PT again on the field. Breakfast, then fifteen minutes of free time. Then, we were led to "The Ropes." Arg. It looked easy--I'll give it that. The Ropes was a series of cables stretched between trees. We had to balance on these to the end, and if someone fell off, all 24 of us had to start over. Finally, we figured out we could station 4 helpers at intervals who hung onto the trees, and had people grab their hands to help them. Six hours. That's how long it took us. Four hours before lunch, 2 hours after lunch.
Day Four--Torture Ends
Home. A beautiful word. Yesterday was physically and emotionally draining. My arms hurt, I'm nauseated, my medicine isn't workig, and everything hurts. But, I'm in SGA and I have to lead by example. Including being a senior. Civilization in Blue Ridge consisted of a Wal-Mart in a huge field and a Sonic's. I was so happy when our buses turned up to bring us home.

Sounsa like Boot Camp, and I know, since I went through real boot camp. Surprisingly, to get the soreness away, you must continue your exercises. You'll see, things get better.
"Milking the Cow?" Now that sounds like "fun"
I bet deep down inside, you really enjoyed being the leaders. Not that you liked the tourture, but you enjoyed the whole experience
