New Stuff

Work has been pretty hectic lately. We got two new overnight managers to replace Stacy and Allen. Our new managers are Esther and Paul.

Paul is cool. He'll get right out on the floor and work beside you if you need the help. You'll see him all over the place helping people out.

Ester? She has to be everywhere too. But not in a good sense. She checks up on people all the time. Like we don't know how to do our job. If she left us alone, we'd get something done.

She micro-manages. From the back office. She's constantly on the PA system. And for some reason, our overnight radio program hasn't been coming on. I feel she's part of that...but I don't have any proof.

And her new thing is we have to have everything 100% done. New freight thrown up on the shelves, plus the whole area zoned (straightened). All of it 100%, no excuses, no exceptions.

Needless to say, she hasn't endeared herself to anyone yet.

Now, on some nights it is possible to get everything done. Heck, on some nights, you LOOK for stuff to do.

On others, not so much. When you have 8-10 pallets that have to be sorted, thrown, and labeled, you don't think about zoning so much. On those nights you have to choose. Do you zone, or get freight done? But Esther doesn't get that. Paul does. Esther thinks that we can get everything done in 8 hours. It just isn't possible sometimes.

Hopefully, she won't last long. She's beginning to crack anyway, I think. Paul will last, if only because he's done overnight before. I don't think she has.

Ah well. Life of a graveyard shift. Wouldn't trade it for anything.
