Has our English language deteriorated so much over the years that people can now use completely made up words and get away with it?
Somehow, people have gotten so lazy that they have decided that the combining of two words into one is perfectly fine. Sure, I know the meaning of most of the combinations, but still, I find it irritating nonetheless.
Hm, maybe it's done like that because it successfully combines two words and shortening them both to create a single word?
Then again, I think I won't do that because I'm not some stupid AIM (AOL Instant Messenger) junkie that tries to cut as many corners as possible when writing text while still trying to sounding coherent. im sure u kno wat i mean, rite? Gr8!
Besides, I know how to type without the need to look at my keyboard (80 WPM) but only know the layout of the letters, not the numbers, and hate having to look down at the keyboard to look at the numbers keys. To me, having to look down at my keyboard makes me feel stupid. I'm plenty stupid enough and don't need to be constantly reminded.
For instance, once, I saw words like 'Craptastic' and 'Gi-normous' and 'Craptacular' (ie: Crap/Fantastic, Gigantic/Enormous, and Crap/Spectacular respectively). It made me wonder why people do that. Is there really a need to do that, to combine words into one? Can't they just fetch a thesaurus? Instead of saying something like 'Craptacular', why couldn't they use something like "It sucks"? It's short and to the point. There's no beating around the bush. What's the point in using a word like 'craptastic' anyway? Afterall, which has more of an impact, someone saying that a something is "craptacular" or that something "sucks"?
Anyway, it's rather weird.
